I love reading to my little N, even though she's too young to understand most of what we read, I want her to learn to enjoy sitting quietly with a book and getting away from the electronics surrounding us more and more. We go the the library at least once a week, if not more. I love being within walking distance of two great libraries! Her current favorite book is "Heads" by Matthew Van Fleet. She looooves it. And I love reading to her. I am looking forward to the day when we can sit for longer amounts of time to read together :)

To the Sea

We spent a few days on vacation in SC last week, a much-needed break from the office/housework/etc. Here are some highlights :)

a Little Project

This morning, while N napped, I started a little painting project for her party: a sign to hang on the gate for her birthday party :) Nothing special, just some cardboard, acrylic paints, and some Pandora radio to keep me company (oh, and coffee too ;)

This isn't the finished product yet, I still have some embellishments to add.

DIY Toms Sandals

My favorite TOMS were practically falling apart from wearing them 99% of the time for my everyday shoes :) So I turned them into sandals. I used a seam ripper and scissors to cut off the worn parts, and also some of the sides, so now I have "new" sandals just in time for our beach trip!

Haircut

I got my hair cut differently for the first time in over a year! I've been sticking with the same style for a long time, not ready to try anything daring (though this is far from "daring" haha). So when my hairdresser asked how I wanted my bangs cut, I spontaneously pointed to a picture on her mirror and said "Like that!" 

I love it! My parents didn't even recognize me at church last night ;)

Memories from a Song

For me, anytime I hear a song from Coldplay's X&Y album, I am immediately brought back to memories of my freshman year of college. The first week at college I bought the album and played it almost every day while doing homework. It gives me a nostalgic/melancholy feeling whenever I hear it now :)
